Alpha Rho Chi Foundation
The Alpha Rho Chi Foundation was established in 1989 to advance education and research directed toward the discovery, promotion, furtherance and dissemination of knowledge related to architecture and the allied arts. To that end, the Foundation provides scholarships for Alpha Rho Chi members; sponsors professional programs at many levels; underwrites scholarly publications and the Alpha Rho Chi Medal Program which recognizes leadership, scholarship, and service in students in both the US and Canada; and promotes new and innovative educational opportunities for students in architecture and the allied arts.
Facts
- An independent, six-member Board of Directors administers the operations of the Foundation. The fraternity's WGA and WGE are non-voting, exofficio members of the Board. These directors have the skills necessary to effectively manage the responsibilities of the Foundation. All directors are unpaid volunteers.
- The Foundation receives gifts, invests and manages a variety of funds, receives and reviews requests for scholarships and grants, and disburses funds in accordance with the provisions of each managed fund.
- Under the terms of our charter and tax-deductible classification, the Foundation is not permitted to pay operating expenses of the Grand Council or its member chapters and alumni associations.

Current Goals
With the Fraternity's 100th anniversary just around the corner in 2014, the Foundation is focusing on a successful end to the Centennial Campaign. This campaign was created to financially secure our successfully established programs, to ensure their perpetuity. Our goals for this Campaign, in order, are as follows:
- Permanently endow the John R. Ross Scholarship. The goal is to provide a minimum of $8500 in scholarships each and every year. The Foundation has been offering scholarships on a national level since 1995 and it is the "keystone" of our mission. By ensuring that this program will be self-funding into the future, the Foundation will be able to expand our opportunities to assist the local and regional leadership with their current needs.
- Fully endow the Verle Annis APX Endowment Fund. This fund supports the Alpha Rho Chi Medal program and the publication of professional articles. It is a successful public relations effort that keeps our name in the minds of academia. It has even assisted in sparking the formation of a chapter or two! The Foundation allocates $3500 each and every year to support the current program.
- Substantially endow the Charles Burchard Professional Fund. The Foundation taps into these funds to underwrite the cost of professional programs, leadership training, and other educational experiences at the local, regional and national level. Most frequently these funds are used to pay speaker fees at our national conventions and conferences and at chapter sponsored campus lectures. The current need exceeds $5,000 per year.
