Phil Buckberg

Phil is a proud father, husband, Hokie, and current Worthy Grand Architect. By profession, he is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with experience in information management and in Human Resources. A native and lifelong resident of the Washington DC area, he lives in Olney, MD and works in Columbia, MD as a software implementation project manager for a large global company.

Phil was initiated into the Metagenes Chapter of APX at Virginia Tech in 1982. In his fraternal life, he has served as the chapter’s Worthy Scribe, a Regional “Deputy,” Archi Editor, Metagenes Alumni Association president and treasurer, and, from 1989-1991, as Worthy Grand Associate Architect.

Phil has been married for 30 years to Roberta (Penn), who works in Career Services at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD. Their daughter Emily is an APX brother, and their son Matt is starting his college career in Fall 2016. Their two dogs, Diesel and Maggie, complete the picture.

Phil loves to travel, especially to National Parks and to other countries. He is a new vegan, a casual photographer, and also a board member for Circle of Hope Therapeutic Horseback Riding. In addition, he enjoys music, college sports, politics, and dark chocolate.
