Metagenes Chapter Reborn
The Metagenes Chapter officially returned to the Alpha Rho Chi Fraternity on April 30, 2005 following the initiation of seven new members. With less than two months to prepare, the nine active brothers planned and organized the event held outside Pulaski, Virginia. This may have been the first time since 1914 an chapter of Alpha Rho Chi has hosted its own installation.
Eight alumni members were there to lend a hand. When Association President Michele LeTourneur presented our charter to the newly reconstituted chapter, the alumni had the pleasant experience of finding us outnumbered by actives two-to-one.
Special thanks go to Christine Brazill, Regional Director, for representing the national fraternity in the formal installation ceremony and all her hard work.
Immediately following the Metagenes Chapter's installation.
Christine Brazill swears in Matt Williams as Worthy Architect of Metagenes Chapter.
New chapter admires their old charter.
Thanks to Rick Robinson taking the pictures.
Metagenes Actives in Blacksburg
On March 12, the first Metagenes initiation in over 10 years concluded as we welcomed nine new members into the brotherhood. Fifteen Metagenes alumni, with help from brothers representing five other chapters, held the initiation at various venues in the Washington, DC area.
A small contingent of local alumni, led by brother Rick Jenkins, worked for months working out the unique logistics for the first known APX initiation ever held in Northern Virginia. Most of the activities took place at brother Ray Consoli's home in Alexandria, with Gary Zickafoose hosting the post-initiation celebration. The nine new brothers, all third-year architecture students are:
- Brian Thomas Earle
- Andrea Frick
- Heather Harris
- Christopher Shields Jones
- Anthony Owen Kane
- Kent McCullough
- Nicole Ribadeneira
- Kenneth Adam Simmons
- Matthew Reese Williams
The tenth member of the Gamma Alpha pledge class underwent emergency surgery the day before initiation and was unable to travel to Northern Virginia. As a result, formal re-installation of the chapter was postponed until the last weekend in April, when Shannon Follweiler, along with nine new pledges will be initiated in Southwest Virginia.
Email List
We have set up an email mailing list for Metagenes Alumni to keep you informed of events and as a way for you to reach your fellow brothers.
Email mletourneur@hotmail.com and we'll add you to the list. To avoid spammers, the system will only accept messages from members of the list. The list will be for fraternal purposes only and we will respect your privacy.
The Metagenes Alumni Association operates in the spirit of securing a closer fellowship among the alumni of APX at Virginia Tech, to support the students and at the university, and to encourage a greater interest in the study of architecture and the allied arts.
